Coumarin - 1oz

Coumarin has been described as a root growth hormone. It is associated with a pleasant, fragrant odor resembling that of vanilla beans. It is found in at least 30 foods. Coumarin-like compounds are vitamin K antagonistic. It is a naturally occurring anthelmintic (destructive to worms).

Derivatives of Coumarin (Warfarin, Dicumarol) reduce the concentration of prothrombin in the blood and thereby increase prothrombin or clotting time. Commercially, it is used in perfumes, deodorants, soaps and suntan lotions. It is also used as an aromatic ingredient in such products as tobacco, butter, inks, rubber and medicines.
